Infinio Group has clinched a US$34 million exclusive contract to deploy community-based IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services in Taiwan over a five-year period.
The contract involves the supply of complete IPTV turnkey solutions including network, equipment, software, content, and system integration, maintenance and support services to Max Media, which will operate the service.
The IPTV service will be deployed in residential complexes including high-end estates, commercial buildings, serviced apartments and hotels in Taiwan.
‘The economic growth of the Taiwan market especially in the new media sector has been phenomenal in the past few years and all indicators point to a robust year ahead. The management sees immense potential in the Taiwan market for our products and services,’ said CEO Jeffrey Soong.
Max Media is a subsidiary of Cosmactive Broadband Network, which was founded in 2000 and is said to be the largest building service provider in Taiwan.
It serves over 3,100 communities, which constitute over 10 per cent of Taiwan’s high-end households, representing an aggregate 41.4 per cent of the total wealth of Taiwan.
According to Multimedia Research Group, the global growth of the IPTV market is on track for 50.5 million subscribers by 2010 with revenues topping US$12.2 billion by 2011.
The drive by telecommunications to increase their revenue base, provisioning of innovative service, better quality of service and user choice will drive the markets. Europe and Asia will still be ahead, with 41 per cent and 32 per cent share of market respectively.
‘This exclusive contract marks the largest contract win for Infinio since our five-month transition into the new media industry in April. We expect to undergo significant transformation as we expand our geographic focus. Taiwan will serve as an important gateway to expand to the Asia Pacific region in the near future,’ Mr Soong added.
