KL to scrap arrival cards for foreigners
Foreigners entering Malaysia will not need to fill up arrival cards issued by the Immigration Department from June 1, the Home Ministry has said in a statement.
PUTRAJAYA - Foreigners entering Malaysia will not need to fill up arrival cards issued by the Immigration Department from June 1, the Home Ministry has said in a statement.
Secretary-general of the Home Ministry Tan Sri Mahmood Adam said the procedure was no longer required as the Immigration Department would get all the necessary data from the biometric recording system that foreigners have to go through on arrival in Malaysia, Bernama reported on Thursday.
'Through the National Enforcement Registration System that was introduced on June 1, 2011, the data of foreigners will be recorded and stored,' he said.
He said that the system was much faster at recording the data of foreigners and the decision to do away with the arrival cards was made after discussions and consultations with the Immigration Department and the Home and Tourism ministries.
'The procedure will also fulfil the requirement of the Tourism Ministry to record data and number of tourist arrivals,' he said.
