Former Commercial Affairs Department director Glenn Knight is joining law firm Colin Ng & Partners as a partner in its dispute resolution practice group, the firm said yesterday.
Former Commercial Affairs Department director Glenn Knight is joining law firm Colin Ng & Partners as a partner in its dispute resolution practice group, the firm said yesterday.
His areas of practice will include civil and commercial litigation, corporate and securities law and criminal law.
Mr. Knight has been with Bernard & Rada Law Corporation since he was reinstated to the Bar in May last year. He had been struck off the roll in 1994 after he was convicted for attempted cheating and providing false documents.
He was previously a deputy public prosecutor and in 1984, he set up the CAD and became its first director. He gained prominence with the arrest and conviction of fugitive Peter Tham and former Malaysian politician and businessman Tan Koon Swan for their part in the collapse of listed company Pan-Electric Industries in late 1985, and was also responsible for the successful prosecution of former banker Allan Ng for insider trading.
He served as director until 1991, when he was caught for attempted cheating of a $3 million investment, and for using a false invoice to secure a $65,000 government loan. Mr. Knight was jailed one day and fined, and also lost $300,000 in pensions and other benefits.
Colin Ng & Partners said Mr. Knight will be joining its FIRST team, a cross disciplinary group of partners and consultants across a wide range of disciplines. ‘The FIRST team was set up to provide strategic advice as well as proactive and commercially viable solutions in the light of the global economic slowdown and financial crisis,’ the firm said in a statement.
Whatever happened to the "former banker Allan Ng" who Glenn Knight prosecuted and convicted? Does anyone have any information on him? I hear he sued his brother? Is that accurate?
Allan went to Canada for a while, then to Hong Kong to set up a business. He was featured in Business Times years back. So in short he made a come back. Not sure about him suing his brother.
