A woman in Shanghai splashed excrement all over her ex-husband’s residence after the man failed to make child support payments, according to a local newspaper.
The man surnamed Cai divorced the unidentified woman in June, but could not afford to pay child support for the past several months, thus leading to a conflict, a neighborhood committee member where Cai lives told Xinmin Evening Newspaper.
The ex-wife and several friends tried to enter Cai’s sixth-floor residence on Monday in Pudong New Area. When Cai didn’t open the door, the woman and her friends threw two buckets of excrement onto the door and exterior walls of the man’s home, said the newspaper.
“Each bucket held 20 kilograms of liquid and you can imagine how terrible the scene was and how smelly the whole building became,” a witness told the newspaper. “We had to close our windows to keep out the disgusting odor.”
The woman and her friends returned at 2am on Wednesday. Cai opened the door and was beaten heavily, according to the report.
“His head was bleeding, but his ex-wife kept on hitting him,” another neighbor was quoted as saying. “Then they poured two more buckets of excrement onto the door and wall.”
The excrement trickled down the stairwell from the sixth floor to the first and the entire building had a horrible stench, the neighbor added.
Yesterday morning two neighborhood committee officials and two cleaners spent several hours cleaning the stairs and walls. However, the air still smelled inside the building, the newspaper said.
